Genomes from shells: conservation insights from temporal genomics in a critically endangered mollusk

Using genomes from shells up to 2,000 years old, I'm assessing how populations of the critically endangered black abalone have changed over time, and how such changes might inform conservation strategy.

Germline mutation rates in mollusks

Intrigued by the unusual life history of abalone and the lack of information on mutational processes in mollusks, I'm using captive families of white abalone to infer rates and patterns of germline mutations.

Genomic history of the extinct California grizzly

The California grizzly bear went extinct in the early 1900s due to extreme human depredation. I'm using genomes from two of the last living individuals to figure out how they relate to living brown bears, and when they may have arrived in California.
